You’ve probably heard it all before. Losing weight is less about dieting and more…
Watermelon is one the most refreshing fruits, especially in the summer months. It is usually available in grocery stores year round, but they are at their best during the summer months. Watermelon is 92 percent water and 8 percent sugar, and has many health benefits. Although many may think of watermelon as a food that is not that nutritious because it contains so much water, it is just as, if not more, nutritious than some other fruits. Adding a daily serving of watermelon to your diet can really boost your immune system and keep you on the road to a healthy life.
1. Heart Health
Watermelon has lycopene (the same antioxidant that is in tomatoes). Lycopene fights free radicals to protect from hardening of the arteries. It also has arginine which boosts nitric oxide. Nitric oxide relaxes the blood vessels helping to alleviate angina, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular issues.
