Top 10 office health hazards

Office work is not usually thought of as being hazardous, especially when it is compared to occupations like fire fighter, iron worker or even convenience store clerk. There are probably more people working in offices these days than at any other time in history. Our economy, that was once dominated by agriculture and manufacturing, gave way to more service-oriented industry, which has moved a large segment of the workforce into office spaces. Even though the office may feel like a safe place, many of the dangers that lurk there are not as obvious as they might be for people with other occupations. Here are a few things office workers may be surprised to learn about the dangers of the office.

1. Accidents

The first, and probably most obvious hazard is accidents. These are the kinds of things that can happen almost anywhere. Just because someone works in an office does not mean they won’t have to use a little muscle from time to time. Moving office furniture or lifting a case of copy paper can result in accidental injuries that can put you out of action with a back injury or bad sprain. The stress that often goes hand-in-hand with so many office jobs adds another element that makes accidents more likely.
